چکیده

Plant polyphenols have gained attention in recent years because of their potential to alleviate obesity and metabolic syndrome, protect neurological function, maintain intestinal function. Here, we evaluated the effect green tea catechin epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) suppress obesity, inflammation, regulate hypothalamic neurotransmitters high-fat diet mice. Obese male C57BL/6J mice were gavaged with 25, 50, or 100 mg/kg·body weight (bw) EGCG water per day for 6 weeks. The results demonstrated that significantly reduced bw, fat accumulation, liver steatosis. also modulated such as dopamine 5-HTP. Besides, attenuated expression colonic inflammatory factors barrier damage, increased gut microbial abundance genus Alloprevotella, short-chain fatty acids, downregulated transcription factors. suggest may related disorders through gut–brain interaction.

Beneficial Effects of Tea and the Green Tea Catechin Epigallocatechin-3-gallate on Obesity.

Green tea has been shown to have beneficial effects against cancer, obesity, atherosclerosis, diabetes, bacterial and viral infections, and dental caries. The catechin (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) has shown the highest biological activity among green tea catechins (GTCs) in most of the studies. While several epidemiological studies have shown the beneficial effects of tea and GTCs on o...

Green tea epigallocatechin-3-gallate alleviates Porphyromonas gingivalis-induced periodontitis in mice.

Porphyromonas gingivalis causes inflammation, and leads to the periodontitis in gingival tissue damage and bone resorption. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is a major polyphenol extract from green tea with plenty of pharmacological functions. The aim of this study was to determine whether continuous oral intake of EGCG would alleviate P. gingivalis-induced periodontitis. Eight-week BALB/c mic...

Coordinated regulation of murine cardiomyocyte contractility by nanomolar (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate, the major green tea catechin.

Green tea polyphenolic catechins exhibit biological activity in a wide variety of cell types. Although reports in the lay and scientific literature suggest therapeutic potential for improving cardiovascular health, the underlying molecular mechanisms of action remain unclear. Previous studies have implicated a wide range of molecular targets in cardiac muscle for the major green tea catechin, (...

Green Tea Catechin, Epigallocatechin Gallate, Suppresses Signaling by the dsRNA Innate Immune Receptor RIG-I

BACKGROUND The Innate immune system constitutes the first line of defense against pathogen infections. The Retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I) receptor recognizes triphosphorylated ssRNAs and dsRNA to initiate downstream signaling of interferon response. However, unregulated activity of these receptors could lead to autoimmune diseases. We seek to identify small molecules that can specifical...

Inhibition of intestinal tumorigenesis in Apcmin/+ mice by (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate, the major catechin in green tea.

The present study was designed to investigate the effects of two main constituents of green tea, (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) and caffeine, on intestinal tumorigenesis in Apc(min/+) mice, a recognized mouse model for human intestinal cancer, and to elucidate possible mechanisms involved in the inhibitory action of the active constituent. We found that p.o. administration of EGCG at dos...
